Born and raised in the tiny town of Wakefield,Massachuessets, Matthew Robert Smith always knew he wanted to aspire to fulfill his career in the field of acting. When Matt was only a teenager he knew that he would one day want to become an educator in the collegiate level to help instill the art of acting,theatre and its history to individuals looking to learn more about the art and many others who hope to aspire a career in the field. At the age of 14 Matthew came to the conclusion that he wanted to be a professor and with the help and enouragement of his loving parents Matthew followed through in attaining an education that could help make these aspirations possible. But before attaining any educating positions Matthew made sure to acquire a background of experience that would help make his teachings credible for those who he would soon craft.
Matthew has a thick background of many acting and performance work behind him. Matthew has been lucky to be apart of 3 Off-Broadway Productions during his time, not only does he have theatrical expereince but he has some film accredation as well, Matthew was a part of a documentary titled "1971" soon later Matthew became a script reader on the Fox Network show "House" starring Hugh Laurie. In 2006 Matthew attained Membership with the Screen Actors Guild(SAG) Union and a few years later in 2011 recieving his Equity Card.
Matthew Smith moved to El Paso,Texas with his wife Emily Smith in the Summer of 2014 in the aspiration to broaden his background and as an artistic prospector to see what the southwest has to offer him. Holding the position of "Theatre Coordinator" here at the El Paso Community College with the Performance Studies Department,Matthew teaches multiple courses including that of Introduction to Theatre(DRAM 1310) and Acting 1 & 2 (DRAM 1351/1352). Matthew also goes on to Assist Director Kieth Townsend in running the EPCC Forum Theater. He also directs two productions durng the active ensemble season, as well as a Summer Repertory show.
