EPCC THEATRE AND PERFORMANCE STUDIES

Born and Raised in El Paso,Texas, Joel discovered his new found passion for performance in high school. It was here we he emerged into the pool of acting and stage craft after he joined his high school drama club. After finding that he was not only talented in acting but speaking, Joel joined the Speech and Debate club where he developed a high skill of public speaking. Because of these two organiztions Joel knew that a career field in the performing arts would be the path that he wanted to take.

    

     Joel later rejoined high school mentor Keith Townsend, to take part in the El Paso Community College Forensics Team. Where he earned many accolades and achievements in the competition circuit. Those which include many sweepstake awards various national awards, and 6 time national champion. Shortly after, Joel then became the EPCC Forensics Team coach. Joel prepares the team for competition on many aspects such as Acting, Oral Interp, Debate and Public Speaking, which the individual students then take to contest against various colleges and universities. Joel has gained many winnings and accomplishments under his belt which have made him the qualified Assistant he is today.

 

     Joel is the current "Director's Assistant" for the El Paso Community College Performance Studies Department, here he aides Director Keith Townsend in many aspects of the Forum Theater, it is here where he also takes the role of "Student Coordinator" Joel manages the student staff who go on to manage the forum theater's concession stand, box office, and usher clerks.
